How many lumens do they output.
Do they need sunlight or just light.
Thank you
John By John on Aug 5,2015
Answer:
They need as much direct sunlight as possible on the solar panel, which is on the top of the unit. We do not list lumens but it is the approx. equivalent of a 3w bulb.

Question:
Hi, One of my Canterbury lights has stopped working and after inspection realised the batteries are in a sealed unit, is possible to replace or purchase just the lighting unit. By Tom Lee on Apr 22,2015
Answer:
You can change the batteries. There should be 4 small screws on the green printed circuit board. By undoing those screws you can lift the circuit board enough to pop the batteries out.

Question:
Hi I bought these from you last year but haven't put them up yet. My main concern is that we live by the sea and wonder will the sea air corrode them- have you any experience of this? How do they last long term? Thanks By Dermot on Feb 27,2015
Answer:
These lights should be fine by the sea although they will degrade slightly quicker than the normal. You should expect them to last a good 5 years (with care and replacement of batteries).

Question:
I bought 10 of these from you last year however we are only just about to put them up and have realised that the circular part you attach to the wall is larger (width) than our fence posts. Can you recommend any other way to fit them?
By Joanne T on Feb 17,2015
Answer:
Unfortunately I cannot recommend another way to fit the lights. Any changes made to your units will invalidate your 12 month warranty period.

Question:
is there a switch so that the light does not come on at night when not required ? what are the new power saving tops? By james on Nov 24,2014
Answer:
You can manually turn these off. They will still charge in the off position. The power saving tops can be used with this light and have a separate setting which uses nearly half the energy and lasts for longer but is slightly dimmer than normal tops.

Question:
Does the light have to be in direct sunlight to charge? As I would like to put a light in my porch which is covered. If not can you recommend another solar light that doesn't require direct sunlight. Thank you By Mark on Oct 23,2014
Answer:
The solar panel, which is on the top of the unit, must have direct sunlight. I would recommend this: https://www.thesolarcentre.co.uk/products/Solar_PIR_Porch_Light-379-78.html instead.

Question:
Would this light be ok fitted in a porch By Stewart on Apr 16,2014
Answer:
The top of the light is where the solar panel sits. The solar panel needs as much access to direct and unobstructed daylight as possible. If it doesn't then the light's performance may suffer.

Question:
I want to fix solar powered wall light on east facing wall where there is morning sun for about four hours on a sunny day. I need light up to about 10 pm to see the key hole to front door. Please advise whether this would be enough. How accessible the batteries to recharge in winter if needed. How much spare batteries cost? Do you supply spare batteries? By Kirit Talati on Apr 9,2014
Answer:
We would not recommend this light for the location. This light works best on a south facing wall and benefits from as much direct (and unobstructed) sun as possible. If you have a less than ideal location the light may struggle to work in winter.
The batteries are underneath the top and simple to replace by removing two screws and popping them out. It is 2 x AA batteries than can be purchased from any supermarket or shop.

I know
You recommend these for south facing walls but my porch is north facing. Will these work? By David Giles on Jan 26,2014
Answer:
We can't recommend these for North facing walls, at this time of year you won't get much out of them at all. Where possible it may be worth considering a light with a remote panel such as one of the Security Lights that give you more flexibility on panel placement.

Question:
What is the diameter of the wall fitting of the Canterbury Solar Wall Light? I want to fit a couple on 100mm fence posts and want to know whether they will fit. By Peter on Jan 23,2014
Answer:
The diameter of the wall fitting is 112mm so there would be a slight overlap on either side of your post. The plastic insert within the light is 97mm so the lights would be securely fastened in place.
