Hi Lisa, the difference with the Elan and for example the Lumify fairy light range is they have a tube that stores the battery that can be USB charged and replaced
They are replaceable or removeable unfortunately
This unit will work for up to 10 hours from a full charge.
The lights will work during winter if the panel is located in a clear, South facing location without obstructions.
You just need to replace the batteries that are located inside the panel with AA rechargeable ones, please.
I am afraid not. However, an alternative might be this unit, if you want multicolored lights: https://www.thesolarcentre.co.uk/products/Madison_Solar_Tube_Lights_Multicolour_200_LEDs-1044-77.html
If the lights are left switched on, they will come on automatically once it gets dark.
The batteries will charge while it is daylight.
Yes, these lights are waterproof.
All our lights are manufactured in China but to UK specifications. The Elans are rated IP54.
Yes, you can choose the static mode.
These are based in the panel. Unscrew the back of the panel and the batteries are located there.
They will flash on and off, not twinkle or fade.
Our lights are designed to work in the UK weather conditions so can be used as Christmas lights, the run time/ brightness may be affected however by the lack of direct sunlight.
Yes the lights come with an On/Off button
Yes the squirrels do eat the wires, we don't have any recommendations of how to prevent this.
Yes they can be left out
It would not be advisable as the panel is attached and cannot be detached.
Aproximately:
Height: 9cm
Width: 11cm
Depth: 2.5 where the battery and spike attachment are.
I would recommend the Lumify for longevity over winter.
Cable is green
The lights will only work if the solar panel is in darkness. So if it is dark in your den but the panel is outside they will not come on. You can cover the panel to simulate darkness but you need to make sure this is uncovered when not in use during the day so it can charge.
These are for stake mountign only, however some customers have used found way of installing them to walls etc.
These are between 2,000 and 3,000 we have not had any reports of these disturbing wildlife, they are purely decorative.
We would strongly recommend these to be in as much direct sunlight as possible so they can have the optimum charge/run time for you. The panel will need to be as south facing as possible. In a shaded garden you will find these will have a reduced run time as they do not have the back up USB charage or powersaving mode like the Lumify Range.
The lights come on when the panel is not receiving enough light to charge the batteries. Changing the angle of the panel towards the east will make lights come on earlier.
The cable is dark green.
200 Superbright LED bulbs on a 20-meter string so just under 10cm per bulb.
200 Superbright warm white LED bulbs on a 20 metre string
Yes, you can wrap them around a tree. Please make sure the wire isn't tight if wrapping around tree branches as this could snap the wires if windy. It's a personal choice is like warm white or white lights.
Dark green.
We don't currently offer extension cables for the elan range.
We'd expect at least 3-5 years. The batteries can be easily replaced too.
Currently, we don't sell the panel on its own and its very unlikely ours would fit another brand. If the lights are designed by us then please contact us to see if we can troubleshoot and help.
You can replace the batteries on our Elan range.
Yes, they're standard rechargeable AA batteries inside the solar panel - they should be in late this week or early next week.
We have just updated the page to include the panel image. See small images next to the large product image at the top of the page.
Two main differences are that the ELAN lights don't have USB top up and the panels charge less than the Lumify fairy lights.
