Question:
Why can't you charge behind glass, my porch has a door By Simon on Jun 20,2015
Answer:
We do not recommend it due to the UV protection some glass can have and because a window will only get a short amount of direct sunlight to the solar panel.

Question:
Does it have a separate on/off switch? And is the cable connecting the light fitting and solar detachable (so that cable can pass through a small gap or hole in wall)? By Siew on Nov 10,2014
Answer:
The on/off switch is on the front of the light unit. It will still charge while turned off. The cable is dis-connectable so you can pass it through a small gap or hole.

Question:
Thanks for your reply. Do I understand that if the light is pointing downwards the angle is 120 degrees, so that on the pavement side the outwards angle of detection from the vertical is half of that, i.e. 60 degrees (easier with a diagram). One does not want it to be triggered by every passer-by beyond the front gate (approx. 12 feet away). Please advise. By M. Taylor on Oct 31,2014
Answer:
Yes, you're correct. I've checked with a colleague who has one of these installed, he has advised users before to cover part of the sensor or paint over it to reduce the detection angle if required.

Question:
With regard to the porch light being triggered by passers-by on the pavement, what is the angle in question? If the light is fixed underneath the ceiling of the porch at, say, 9 feet high, what is the maximum lateral distance from which movement will be detected? By M. Taylor on Oct 25,2014
Answer:
It is 120 degrees detection from the front of the unit's PIR with a maximum of 12m range.

Question:
Does the light have a switch so you can have it as a constant light sorce if needed. By Paul joyce on Apr 13,2014
Answer:
The short answer is no. It is PIR activated only. However, all the time something is moving in front of the sensor the light will stay on. It will drain the batteries quickly if the light is staying on.

Question:
Does the cell need full sunshine or will it work/Charge on 'brite' days as well ?as with the UK sun can be a bit rare some times ! By Andrew Blunt on Apr 4,2014
Answer:
Our lights have been designed to work in the UK where sun is a bit rare! The light has bigger batteries and a larger solar panel to allow for the less sunny days. The location of the solar panel will still need to allow for as much unobstructed sun as possible and for as long as possible.

Question:
Can the solar light have a booster PV cell if placed on a north elevations? Or replace the 'in box' cell with an Evo 36 booster? By Thomas Lodge on Jan 31,2014
Answer:
The Solar PIR Porch Light does not have the option of a booster solar panel and will not work with the Evo 36 Security Light solar panel due to difference of connector. I would recommend a different light that has the option of an extension cable in this instance. (I.e. the Evo 36 Solar Security Light.)

Question:
Is the whole of the solar PIR porch light totally waterproof? Also can the 30 second lighting up be extended? By Wes on Jan 24,2014
Answer:
The Porch light is shower proof but no more then that, ideally it wants to be mounted in a porch or shed or somewhere undercover - the panel is fine anywhere of course!
You can't adjust the lighting time, your best bet for adjusting the lighting time will be the Evo 36.
