Quality lights with a unique lookVerified Purchase
We're fortunate to have a street light provide a lot of illumination into our small courtyard garden at night, but there was one problem - our shed blocked the light from getting to our back gate and the approach, so it sat in a dark unwelcoming corner. I've had solar lighting before of varying quality and decided to give these a go as they seem pretty new and uncommon.
So first things first, they won't look as good as the reference photo on the website - nothing ever does! But I will say that they do cast a decent amount of light onto their surroundings, which is what I wanted. Too many cheap lights are basically just a tiny bulb visible in the dark, but these, with their gold mesh, defintely have some presence!
I went for this design rather than just a regular bulb partly as a talking point, but partly because I thought the lights glowing from within the cage might give off a greater glow than I'm used to, and I think I was right. My one criticism is that maybe the gold is a bit too OTT for a garden and it could do with being more of a bronze (maybe even a colour selection?) but that's personal taste really.
The leaf panel is novel and seems to give a decent charge to the one battery I have in it. Obviously it's summer and we've got long days to get it charged, but so far it's been still providing power into the early hours of the morning. I did give it an initial charge with USB when I got them, but haven't had to since. I look forward to seeing how long it lasts mid-winter, but I'd be happy with another battery or two to bolster that.
And that I suppose is the real unknown of any solar light, and something I can't speak to now. How does it fare in less than ideal conditions, and also how well will it work in a year or 3? I've bought Solar Centre post lights before and they looked great that first year, but over a few years stopped working one by one. Time will tell on these but initial reaction is very positive. If their look and colour would suit your garden then you won't regret them, but if you're looking for something a bit more subtle then I'd suggest the Edinburgh lights instead.
