Customer Reviews - Eco Wedge Pro Solar Security Light
This gives a nice bright light over the front door on the side of my house, enabling me to find keys etc. Comes on about 3 metres from the door. Improved design on the previous model I had, which had a flat solar area so was vulnerable to getting dirty. This one slopes to enable rain to wash dust and bird poo off. The only issue I had was that the documentation doesn't say the size of the screws. They turned out to be 7mm, which, I found, is missed out in drill sets, going from 6 to 8mm. It was difficult to find a 7mm drill. Anyway, fixed now, and I'm pleased with the purchase.

Good sensor distance and stays on sufficiently long. I’ve had other solar lights but this does seem good quality. I’ll leave a further review in a few months.

1 | 0 This is the second echo wedge light i have boight from this company and the first one has been up for 2 years and is still as good as the day it was put up .It works in dull weather foggy weather torrential rain snow anything .The new one has been up a couple of weeks and its on a very dull drive with barely any sun light and the friend who put it up said it wouldnt work but its worked every night .If you want decent solar lights buy from this company you wont be dissapointed .

Have to say though this is probably the easiest, cheapest, brightest I've bought if you just want light in one place to fit and forget. Sits on the wall outside of my office door. I have it on the lower power, longer lasting mode to simply keep the light levels down! Lights up everything as it should when I or the cat walk past. Been there two years and still works as well as day one.

Packed sensibly - no masses of bubble wrap etc. Very easy to install now waiting until tomorrow to activate it. Only downside is that all the information accompanying the light is in a foreign language!!!!! However, looked at the video in the advert and it was really very simple to install. Anyone with a drill would be able to hang it.

3 | 0 This is the fifth Eco Wedge Solar Security light I've bought, and the second without the remote control feature. The light output is impressively bright considering the remote control, larger model is double the lumens. It took me a while to work out the on-off switch as my instructions for both models were in Finnish and Swedish, however it is fairly straightforward. I have one mounted on the corner of the house facing south and the other I use as a landing light indoors, recharging it dailly on our bedroom windowsill, which faces south. So far I've had no problems with charging in even dull days, but it might be an issue in an area of heavy traffic after dark, which neither are. Overall, I think the extra light output and remote control flexibility give an advantage to that model, but this is excellent for the price.

It's quite light, perfect size and while it doesn't necessarily feel like the highest quality plastic, it's really easy to put up, looks good and after switching it on, it works perfectly. Left it for 3 days after fixing to the wall before switching on. The lighting and pir sensor range are spot on. Hoping that it will do what it should for the next few years. Assuming that it will/does, this is a great light, good value for money and absolutely perfect for what we need it for!

I am so pleased with it that I have just purchased my second one and am even more delighted to find an offer on the price. I am now considering whether to replace my wired in lights with these as they are far less bother and so far, more reliable. My wired in ones have too many adjustable options and seem to have a mind of there own but with the Eco Wedge you just let them charge, push a button and your set. Does a great job for me.

Initially I was concerned whether they would work satisfactorily because the solar panel is north facing and in shade from tall trees across the road. However, the lights work fine, they illuminate the drive with a bright light and for long enough to walk to the house. Both of us are pleased with them especially the ease of installation.

4 | 0 I already had an Eco Wedge Pro, so I know how good they are. Very bright and the motion sensor has the perfect range for my needs. This second Wedge was bought to replace a much more expensive EVO SMD PRO, which has adjustable light and duration sensors, and the seperate solar panel means the light itself can be placed in an area that gets little sunlight, like a north-facing wall. However, the EVO has died at just over two years of use. I suspect the battery has failed, but I have found it impossible to source a replacement. The great advantage of the Eco Wedge is that replacement batteries are widely available ( ordinary 18650 rechargeable ) whereas the EVO has the same battery but has a strip of metal joining the + and - terminals with two soldered wires running from that to a 2-pin plastic push-on connection. Given that at the prices I paid, I could get 3 Eco Wedges for little more than the cost of one EVO SMD, I now wish I had. Given all the above, I would say the Eco Wedge is the best light available at The Solar Centre and I would highly recommend it. I would also like to say a big thank you to the staff at The Solar Centre, who are always friendly and knowledgeable.

In terms of the quality and robustness, it's just as effective as the overwhelmingly positive reviews here state. Situated above a back door, which receives little direct sunlight in the winter months, following a 5 day waiting period it is now working very well, and provides clear, bright illumination for approx 25 seconds when triggered. All-in-all, it seems well worth the outlay and has created a good first impression.

It has no frills (you can't change the duration for which it stays lit, nor can you change the sensitivity) - although you can apparently toggle the intensity of the light low or high. Quality even extends to them providing a small card template with the screw holes marked on it, to aid fitting. And for what I wanted (lighting those tricky steps up to the garden, without having to connect any wiring, and with the smug satisfaction of using solar power) it is perfect.

5 | 0 These lights have a big enough panel and battery to be able to work in less than ideal locations (north-facing gardens) in the British winter. Smaller units (plain old Eco Wedges) tend to last a year or a little longer. These ones are larger, more expensive and not a great deal brighter than the standard Wedges, but they will work in Winter and last longer.

This is not a problem, but I thought that I would mention it in case anyone else has similar thoughts.

I mounted mine high as is for security and they only hook onto wall mounted screws so could be knocked off with long stick rendering the deterrent null. 3 | 2 I bought this light specifically to shine in an area where a dark shadow is created behind a dog's kennel. I erected it above the shed door in a matter of minutes with the help of the screw hole template. Before I erected it I left it outside in bright winter sun all day and placed it on the sun room windowsill overnight. When my wife entered that room in the early hours to let the dog out the whole room lit up as the dog entered the sensor area much to her horror as she wasn't aware it was there. We had a few laughs. Great light and will be buying more of same or similar.

As my front door is north facing I charged up the batteries before installing the light. This requires a special charger for the Li-ion batteries. To stop the light sensing cars and people passing outside my property I have ct aa postage stamp sized piece of black plastic and stuck it in front of the sensor using double-sided adhesive tape

Bit sensitive for my needs, it lights up when I am 15 foot away ... i only need close proximity but you can't have everything. Hope it lasts the test of time.

3 | 0 This light is well made and works very well. I've only had it on the wall for two weeks, but so far it has done exactly what it should do. It's on a North facing wall and given the rubbish weather we've been having I expected it to struggle, but it comes on every time and gives off plenty of light. It may not be the most beautiful thing in the world, but I've seen a lot worse, and for £30 you won't beat it.

I am so pleased with the service as I did have a problem with 1 but was replaced no quibble. The light is perfect for illuminating the driveway/path. 500 lumens - perfect!

Most importantly they always trigger, pick up on the periphery and with good range, they, have a really nice clean light, look good and are very bright. They arent the cheapest, but if you value quality, they do the job superbly and are worth every penny. Visitors are always impressed. Highly recommended.

The light output in "powersaving" mode is almost indistinguishable from that on full power, so I would recommend using "powersaving" as first choice ... especially where operation is likely to be frequent. I could suggest that an even lower light setting might be provided as an option in future versions, to provide extended life in areas where only gentle illumination is required.

So impressed I subsequently looked at purchasing the round solar decking lights However it would appear that you need to use a drill and a jigsaw to install, as no one manufactures a hole saw 97mm..... bit of a pain if you want to install 12 of these! Therefore purchase on hold until either manufacturers change design spec or somebody comes up with the appropriate hole saw

1 | 0 Can't rate this light highly enough. Its small. looks inconspicuous.Incredibly easy to install (just 2 screws and a hole guide is provided). Outputs an very decent amount of light for such a small unit. I have 1 on a south wall in my garden, and 1 on a west wall. Motion triggering is prompt and the light stays on for 30 seconds. If anyone wants a decent easy to install and cheap floodlight in their garden and doesn't want to pay an electrician, or put up any wires, I would highly recommend this product. I'm thinking of getting a few more.

It was replaced promptly after that and, so far, is working well. I have since bought a further light and ordered a third. 1 | 0 To answer my own question in the FAQs below, one of these won't quite light the whole rear of an 11m house. Glad I decided to buy two when the 25% discount was in place. Two of these provide a bright, even light across the house and a good way out into the garden. Each one probably covers about 6-7m sideways with a decent light coverage at a height of about 3m on the house. Detection range seems more than the claimed 5m, more like 6 or 7m. Really simple installation, just two screws using the supplied template, hook the light on and press the button for 5 seconds. Nice and discrete on the house being just slightly larger than a standard house brick and no separate panel or wires. If I have one very minor criticism, I'd like the lights to decide it's dark enough to come on a little earlier that they do but that is nit picking. Second order from Solar Centre and really impressed with the product quality and the service once again.

DELIVERY- received parcel tracker code via email with estimated delivery for 3 days. The code tracked the parcel being collected and then nothing after. it showed its arrived at the distribution centre.it was showing it was still in distribution centre for the next 2 days but the postman delivered the item on the due day. 4 stars PRODUCT-very good easy to put up. The motion detector picks up motion upto 8 metres away directly infront of it and 4 to 5 metres from a slight sideways angle which is perfect for me as my house is a end property and doesnt pick up motion from public road (approx 5-6 metres away to the side of unit)and doesnt pick up motion through glass backdoor which is right next to it but lights up soon as i turn the handle on door to open it. It is very bright and gives good light. Going to purchase a second unit to cover the lower half of my garden . Highly recommended. 5 stars out of 5

1 | 0 Used two of these in a long side passage to replace one old knackered mains powered security light. I wanted two so they would activate when entering either end of the passage. Very simply to fix, drill two holes, marked with the handy supplied piece of cardboard with holes and then fit. That's it, completely self contained and the output is superb along with the sensitivity of activation. Could not recommend more.

1 | 0 I bought this light in the hope that it was truly bright, and not just bright for a solar powered light. There is a difference. I left the light for a couple of days on a south facing wall and kept my fingers crossed. Two days later, I pressed the little button to the side of the lamp, and was dazzled. Brilliant! The sensor picks up movement at about 5m as described over a wide angle and it stays on for about 30s or for as long as there is movement. I could not be happier, and if I ever have the need, I would not hesitate to buy another.

Although it's still early days, the Eco Wedge Pro doesn't disappoint. Amazing light for such a simple device ... looks good and doesn't look or feel cheap. I'm already thinking about where I can add more. Only one negative point worth considering... unlike the smaller version it doesn't have a screw hole to attach it permanently to a gatepost or fence so could be detached easily by just lifting it off. I daren't add it to my front gates as I'm worried somebody will take a fancy to it and it won't still be there in the morning!

0 | 0 Promptly delivered & well packaged. Very bright, and lights an area way beyond the previous light - excellent. The PIR picks up movement well and the light stays on for a reasonable time. Will assess performance over the next couple of months before considering buying another for over our front door.

0 | 0 Fitted to gable end of bungalow and so lights the path etc which before,was a black void...not safe to walk along but now its a pleasure. I have it so it lights as soon as you go through the garden gate. Bright and lights a good area...and seems to stay lit a decent timespan. Would fully reccomend this light and if its as reliable/long lived as the curve lights i have purchased previously i will be very happy indeed!

0 | 0 Fitted this light yesterday after leaving it on wall for 2days to charge Absolutely brilliant!!! Bearing in mind it's November and it's on the north side of our house good range on sensor as soon as we walk out of back door the light comes on extremely pleased with our purchase probably get another later

1 | 0 It's OK, it works as described, but for my purpose it didn't work well, the motion range went all the way to the road, so as soon as cars went passed the security light lit up. This in turn killed the battery very quickly within 2 hours on average, so didn't last long or do its purpose. First all I think there's too much current draw, and secondly it lights up for too long. Functions I'de like if the user could tweak the range, time for light staying on and have a mode for being a welcome or a security light.

Many thanks for the feedback, we've not had sensitivity issues reported from other customers, it's always a balance of getting the sensitivity right so it works just right for the majority of users. In your position it may be worth condisering the EVO SMD. It comes with adjustable time, sensitivity and light settings so could be more suitable?

5 | 0 I fitted two of these on a south west facing wall to illuminate my patio area in Spain. Coverage is excellent, the lights are bright and they are better by far than previous purchases. Solar Centre were very helpful as I had a few questions regarding battery life and changing the lithium battery and I would have no hesitation in recommending this product.

1 | 0 I fitted two lights on an east facing in September and it's mid October now (north of Aberdeen) and they still light up after the whole night, suggesting they get a good charge even on dull days without direct sun. They illuminate a lot larger area than I thought they would so I'll fit some more over a driveway if the first two last the winter. Easy to install and a long detection range on the PIR sensor.

3 | 0 Spot on product. I personally would prefer warm white lights, but this light is excellent, very bright and sensitive, and stays on a good amount of time. A great improvement on the Eco Wedge. White casing would be good also if that's possible!

1 | 0 Very good light. Stays on for a sensible time, when triggered. Easy to install. Reasonably priced. Good delivery, even to the Channel Islands. Loss of one star due to hiccup over ordering process by Solarcentre. However, I have no hesitation in recommending Solacentre, as they honoured an earlier lamp failure under their twelve month warranty, speedily and without question.
