0 | 0 This is the second one I've owned. The first one I bought elsewhere. It lasted several years, but eventually succumbed to ingress of moisture and accidentally having the wires cut by a marauding set of shears. Spliced the wires in a small terminal block and it carried on working happily. This is incredible value for money, completely reliable, no frills just a PIR light that although not eyeball searingly bright is more than adequate. Recommended...

Sensor very good too - works every time. And - best of all - works even in a north-facing front garden in the middle of winter. Can't believe it. Brilliant!!

2 | 0 This light system has lain in "the cupboard" for 9 years. Due to Covid19, "the cupboard" was tidied out, today. Unpacked box, laid the 2 parts out in the yard, in weak sun at 1pm. Had read warning that it may take 3 days to recharge. Popped out at 10pm. Bingo! Triggered light! Amazing!!! Well done The Solar Centre!

3 | 0 when it works it is great, illuminates my shed most adequately but this is my second as the first has a temperament! Some times it switches on and some times it doesn't and strangely the times it doesn't are just when it is darkest, one is in a hurry, hands are full and its raining. I have dismantled it, tested all circuits, resoldered connections but it has a mind of its own and works when dismantled and it is impossible to mend something that isn't broken. My conclusion is that the switch is intermittent, this item frankly lets down the rest of the unit as it really is not sufficient for the purpose. This is a great pity as the concept and output when it works are great. Slightly more expensive and more robustly made would be worth the expense.

Directed towards the ground from a height of around 8ft it gives a focused pool of light; angled for a greater spread the range is fairly limited. It is most effective in providing a bright and well defined light in small areas away from any other ambient light source. Accurately described here as a utility light. An option for shortening the 4.8m cable would be welcome, but for the price the product features offer good value.

The only small negative was that the delivery company tried delivering the package to the wrong address despite the address being clear on the label! I had to go to the delivery company's depot to pick it up.

0 | 1 I've just bought two more of these lights having had one working successfully for nearly three years. Unlike many other solar lights they actually work and keep on working. Easy to fix and great for areas of the garden with no mains power. The 5 m flex means you can put the solar panel where it will get good sunlight but still have the light in dark places where you need it. I would recommend putting the light where there is some shelter from wind and heavy rain if possible. The solar panel seems very weather resistant - mine is in a very exposed position but has kept working. One niggle is that the ball and socket which allows you to angle the panel towards the sun is hard to keep tightened and mine gets moved by very strong winds (we have a lot of them!). The light is quite bright and perfectly adequate for a doorway or steps, but won't light up your whole garden.

Solar Panel Fitted easily to the outside of the shed and there is plenty of cable to thread into the shed and light against the back wall which turns on as soon as the shed door is open. Ideal and just what I wanted - highly recommend.

The one problem is that the fixing of the light to the wall plate is a little loose, but you don't really notice (see also Dante's review). It would be good if somehow the casing of the light lay flush with the wall. But look: it works and it's good value.

The light unit is brighter than expected, it lights up the decking area outside the back door, and a good part of the garden too - without flooding the neighbours' gardens with light! The range of the sensor is somewhat impressive, I have the unit mounted just above the back door, and it comes on as soon as you step foot outside. The mounting bracket for the light is reported rather flimsy, but to get round this, make a small mounting plate out of plywood, then screw the mounting bracket to that, then screw the plywood mount to the wall. Would totally recommend this product.

The only thing i didn't like was the bracket the light clips to, it is very easy to snap if you tighten the screws too much, maybe that is why you get 2 brackets...

0 | 0 Just fitted this light so not had it long enough to comment on reliability, but very happy with the size of the light and easy fitting, the lead from the solar panel to the light was long enough to reach from the south facing side of an extension to the other side where I wanted the light for, and gives plenty of light at night. I wanted a light that wasn't too big, this was the only one I could find and fits the bill perfectly, and for the cost of it it's good value for money. I would recommend this light.

1 | 0 Instructions should be a little more explanatory than simply saying "push the power button to turn the light on". Before fixing in position and connecting the solar panel I pressed the on switch and the light duly came on - just to test. I then switched off, connected the solar panel assuming that the light would NOT come on because it was not dark but it did come on.! I trusted to luck and installed it and switched on. After a few moments the light went off. Thank goodness! I was not really sure that it was working correctly until it was dark when I activated by movement and it came on then went off after the prescribed time lapse. Phew! what a relief. Some extra explanatory notes on these conditions might be helpful to other purchasers. For weather proofing I made a cowling cover out of a large plastic container and installed it under that.

Perfect because of the separation between solar panel and PIR light, because where the light is needed is not in sunlight. Was impressed with the range of the PIR detection, and the light output. Also like the fact the light is pivoted, so the PIR detects movement from one direction but I can get the light to light up at an angle to that. Will be buying more.

The light is installed on top of a summer house which is around 30m from the house so a solar solution was essential as a cost effective way of providing light at the other end of the garden. 0 | 0 Very pleased with the light. It solves the problem of providing light where it would be costly and time consuming to provide non-solar power. Light is a 'whitish' glow but adequate. PIR stretches far further than I expected, which for me is ideal. The instruction show in the top corner "charge for 3 days before use". I only noticed this by accident and maybe put in the body of the text would be more noticeable. Also socket isn't very tight i.e. Male and female bits that connect solar panel to light. Hopefully its water tight and last the course.

Thanks for the feedback Peter, we'll take a look at the instructions! It might be worth double checking the plug from the solar panel is pushed firmly into the socket - there's a small ring on the outside of the plug that gives you a good indication of whether isn't correctly seated in position. Any problems, just let us know.

0 | 0 Reasonable delivery time. This was easy to mount but I did crack the plastic bracket by tightening the screw (by hand, not very hard). The part on the light that slots into the bracket does look as though it may break at some point. It operates very well and gives plenty of light along our side passage and makes entering the garage rear door a doddle now. I am tempted to get another one for my shed. I would have given 5 stars if the bracket was more substantial.

1 | 0 Bought this on recommendation from a friend as I needed a courtesy light above our side door. Easy to install (I fixed the panel with one screw at first in case it needed relocating). Decent cable length to enable optimum location of the panel. Some parts on the light mount do appear to be a bit flimsy but fitted without problem. Given the dull and short winter days the light is still working well and gives a reasonable working level of brightness. Not as good as mains but much simpler to install and cost effective to run. Good service from Solar Centre again. Recommended.

When first installed, I thought it might be faulty but thankfully after 3 days it just started working! Could be brighter but otherwise adequate to light a side entrance to our house.

0 | 0 I've had lots of bad experience with solar stuff so I bought this on trust from others reviews. It is good! The unit is 2+ metres up on the trunk of a tree, with the receiver panel facing west as instructed. It is slightly shaded by random thin branches but so far no problems. It is as bright as any mains light! And it detects approach 2m+ from the narrow walkway which it covers - in both directions. My only niggle is the light 'pool' shape which is more circular than the long oval which you expect from the shape of the led cluster. Because the light is so good you get a very bright circle, which is fine, but it's almost wasted in an outdoor area which needs a little more width / spread. But that is only a niggle, a higher mounting would widen the 'pool'. If your need is local brightness, or a long 'throw' of the beam, you wouldn't be disappointed buying this. As others have said, It does look and feel a bit flimsy in the joint area, time will tell, but a good DIY'er could sort if any problems. I'm not disappointed in its quality.

Maybe include a Velcro strip on mountings so you don't have to screw into walls or window frames etc. I mounted mine on a piece of plywood and stuck the plywood to the window frame with Velcro as i didn't want to screw into the window frame.

2 | 1 Unit now installed and working correctly. I had to adapt it a bit - the panel needed to go on the sunny side of the house so I had to extend the lead DIY style to 14m. Only spotted the extension cable kit after I'd done that... The ball and socket joint looked and felt too flimsy for the winter storms in Scotland and the exposed position that it's in so I made a new bracket. No evidence the ball and socket wouldn't have held. The unit now works perfectly.

The light, as expected from a lamp of this power, is not very bright, but quite enough to allow me to walk down a dark side passage to the garden. Notice that the rubber boot around the ball joint at base of lamp is a poor fit, hope this does not mean I will have trouble with weather proofing. Delivered quite quickly, excellent value for the fairly modest price

0 | 0 I've had one of these in use for a couple of years now with no problems. However, a few days ago it suddenly stopped working. I've looked at the single pin plug connector and found it quite corroded. I've cleaned it up today and will see what happens tonight. It doesn't seem to be very weatherproof at this connection. Has anyone else had this problem? The other thing is that the rubber boot covering the ball joint is rotting (split on the straight bit). Apart from these problems I was very pleased with it.

0 | 0 I already have four of these and I've just bought another load. The light is very sensitive to anything passing in front and when it comes on it is very bright. The cable between the solar panel and the light itself is long so you can hide it out of sight it you wish. The solar panel is also mounted on a good rotating ball so you can angle it really easily in any direction. My first set of these have lasted three years so far with no maintenance whatsoever and they are still going strong.

The lights been up 3 months now with no problems. It's a small light I use to light the gap between me and my neighbors house, about 3meters. it works a treat. I have the EVO smd security light lighting up the garden as well. The smd is a different kettle of fish. Massively bright and light the entire garden with ease, about 18x18meters.

For the two nights this worked it did what we needed it to do but I would suggest that this light is better suited to indoors, ie garage or shed, as one day exposed to some rain seems to have affected the sensor as it now works only when almost standing in front of it. I brought it indoors to dry off but it doesn't catch movement until about a metre in front.. It can,t be because of lack of light as all my other Solars are lit. Shame, as otherwise it is a nice looking product.

I was able to use the same light support, simply slotting the new light in place and screwing down the solar panel. They are very reliable bright lights and recommended. Unfortunately when I pressed the switch the catch broke off the back of the unit and I am struggling to find a way I can secure the light as the shape of the light and the way it is constructed does not lend itself to being attached by any alternative method. As a result I purchased a further two EVO15 lights, one in the greenhouse and one in my garden shed. Apart from security reasons the lamps automatically light when entering the greenhouse and shed, very useful on these dark nights.

0 | 0 I've purchased 4 of these with mixed results. One quickly filled with water and only works when left switched off for a few days for the batteries to recharge. Once switched back on it stays on until the battery is flat. A 2nd light partially filled with water after a few months of normal use. It then went the same way as described above. The 3rd light is still working perfectly after about a year's use, so fingers crossed. The 4th light has not yet been fitted. As far as design is concerned, the clip that holds the light to the wall is very flimsy, so care is needed when removing and refitting, especially in cold weather. The solar panel quickly works loose on its ball & socket, so needs to be glued in place, as it is not possible to screw it up tight enough. As the batteries get older, they become less efficient, so the unit needs to be switched off for a few days to recharge. Perhaps it would be easier if a larger solar panel could be fitted or if additional sockets provided for small panels to be connected in multiple to boost charging during winter or when the panel has to be placed in less than perfect locations. When the lights do work, they are bright enough to illuminate garden paths, doors, gates etc but not so bright as to annoy the neighbours.

The instructions and diagrams could be fuller and clearer - I wondered why two brackets for the light had been included and then worked out that you had to instal the two together to stop the light fouling the wall on which it was mounted. Also no labelling of the on/off switch on the diagram!

Main attraction was the ability to locate the panel in a good sunlight position while the light can be in the shade. Was impressed enough to order two more. They work best in locations with some shelter and one of the ball sockets was loose on one of them, but easily remedied by judicious wedging to fix in place.. Installed the lights just below waist height which limits PIR range somewhat but still does the job and a lot easier than geting power to that location.

I have just purchased an EVO SMD, which I intend to use in place of the EVO 15, which I consider would be ideal for the shed, which has no mains electricity. Summing up: good value for a utility light.

0 | 0 I have left this product assembled but off in the garden to charge, two days later the light and battery assembly was full of water and ice had formed in the light unit. I have dried it out but I am not expecting it to work for very long. It is not sufficiently well manufactured to be rain proof.

Even though the light was not being charged, ( the panel became detached during storms as it was not secured properly. My fault.) It was still working 4 months later and it is used several times a night. I have not had a problem with either of my units and I would recommend them to everyone. I always stop here for my solar products first.

0 | 0 This light is now working well for me but I had two problems during installation: 1. The ball/socket fixture was too loose to retain the position of the light in windy conditions. I fixed this by removing the two screws and surrounding the ball with black insulation tape. 2. The clip fitting also permitted movement in the wind. When trying to remove, the clip broke off and I had to fabricate a plastic bracket to re-mount the light. So the light itself seems to be working well but the mechanical design needs some improvement

0 | 0 A light for the front steps of our house as the street lights are useless. I was reluctant to wire in a light as there was no close source so I gave this a go and I'm glad I did. The solar panel is hidden on the southern face of our small front garden and I hid the light shining on the steps on a post in the bushes. I masked a portion of the PIR with electrical tape so the light doesn't come on when someone passes by on the pavement but only when you reach the steps or open the front door as that's all we need it for. A good bright light to see your footing and keys and no problems despite winter daylight Only negative is the solar panel ball joint is a little loose at certain angles but not beyond bodging.

It has a wonderful bright light I have it on the outside of the awning and when I walk the dogs at night it lights up a large area for me to see the door when I come back - campsites are very dark places. 0 | 0 Bought one of these a while ago to use over my chicken coop door as chicken inside after dark so they wont set it off, Brilliant, it gives off so much light, also use it as a torch when needed, just unhook it from the shed when needed. Recently my mains electric blew for my main chicken coops so I have just bought another one, I know I will not be disappointed. They come on with any movement and I have been successful in shooting rats by its light. Just realized, I should have bought one for when the dogs go out at night as the pup doesn't like the dark!

The light is amazingly bright for such a small unit and, if it lasts, then I will be delighted, because I have had so much trouble with mains power units in the past. As the Evo15 is in a very unprotected area I smear grease around the joints of the unit to help keep the water out. Seems to work. So far so good.

0 | 0 Easy to install, and whilst you won't actually need dark glasses, the LEDs give a decent light to find the front door/get to the bins/fetch wood for the fire etc. I'd say a great product for the price, and 1st class delivery performance from Solar Centre.

Extremely easy to set up giving bright LED light for our bin / recycle / coal bunker area (which has always been in darkness due to difficulty of connecting mains power to that area). 1 | 0 It was very easy to fit through the thin shed walls, and after a couple of days of charging it provides a brighter light than I was expecting (I've been very disappointed with cheap garden path solar lights in the past!). The movement sensor has also been perfect - whenever I open the shed door the light immediately comes on so I can safely rummage round inside.
I have just ordered a second one to act as an outdoor light on the same shed.

0 | 0 I've only had the product a few days now so i cant vouch for the water resistance yet. It seems to be recharging properly during the day. The PIR isnt hugely sensitive, but gets triggered when i walk within a few meters of the sensor. This is probably just about right.
The cable is quite long - nearly 5 meters - so if you plan to mount the light in another part of the property you may still be able to mount the panel in a place which gets enough sunlight.
As with all solar lighting please consider the following two points:
- If the panel will not be mounted in a south facing area then perhaps there might not be enough light in winter to charge it.
- If there is a competing source of light, eg street light or neighbours outdoor lights then perhaps you will be less impressed with this product than if you were to deploy it somewhere which is completely dark otherwise.
As it stands - after initial impressions - i would unreseverdely recommend this light, its absolutely fantastic!!

Simple but effective mounting bracket.
Usability:-
We have had one of these lights in use since December 2008 and it is still going strong. We use it to light a dark alley between the house, the garage and a tall wooden gate. The light given is plenty to ensure that we don't step on a hedgehog or put our hands on a big furry spider when trying to unbolt the gate!
Practicality:-
The solar panel simply sits on the flat garage roof. A matter of minutes to screw the bracket for the lamp and P.I.R. unit to the wall.
We have now obtained a second unit which is in use lighting the patio, not good for reading at night, but excellent for picking a safe route between the patio pots. One surprising thing, in 2008 it cost

0 | 0 It comes with screws and rawlplugs for fixing both the light unit and solar panel into walls or woodwork. We mounted ours on the wall of the house about 3m up so that the sensor had a decent line of sight. The sensor is fixed but has a decent angle of coverage from its elevated position on the house.
I strongly advise anyone purchasing to make a paper template for use when drilling. There isn't one supplied but it is simple to do and saves a lot of messing about.
Tools needed are a no.6 masonry drill bit, a hammer drill, a hammer, phillips-head (cross head) screwdriver, a decent ladder (someone else to support the ladder for any great height).
For a tidy finish you will also need some cable clips for the solar panel wire. In total it took about an hour to install.

1 | 0 I have no electricity in the garage and am also the worlds most technically inept person but fitting this product was a doddle - I simply placed the solar panel on the roof of the garage, ran the cable in through a gap at the top of the door at the back of the garage and screwed the light onto one of the roof beams. Whole process took less than 10 mins. Now as soon as I close the big garage door the bright light comes on, in both summer and winter (which impressed me given the lack of sunshine in the winter months) and stays on long enough for me to lock garage door and make my way through to the back.
Highly recommended.
