6 | 1 I bought this light at the end of 2017 and only just got around to installing it last month. Amazingly, it still had the factory charge in the battery so it has been working perfectly from the start. It took 3 days/nights of fiddling with the controls and angle of the light to get it to trigger as soon as I go round the side of the house but now the sensitivity is perfect.

4 | 0 I already have two lights and have been very pleased with them. This is just an addition to my collection. The characteristics which set these lights apart from other solar lights are that they are: * well designed for winter months - at least down South, and * the adjustable PIR sensor makes them exceptionally versatile (for example, the sensor can face down a path while the light faces up so that it lights the way ahead of the approaching person.)

4 | 1 I had EVO SMD lights as well as other products from the Solar Centre in my old house and, when I moved I wanted to replace the EVOs because I had been very pleased with them. Unlike solar lights from many other suppliers, these do work in the meagre wintry sunlight. As before, prompt delivery of a good product. Not cheap, though.

Unfortunately this aspect is north so we bought an extension cable to allow us to site the panel in a better orientation. November may not be the best time of year to try the light but we are satisfied with the results. It arrived quickly and was easy enough to install for a handy person.

1 | 0 I purchased the Evo SMD Solar Security light to illuminate the fenced area used by my dog at night. He turns on the light himself and the whole 15 metre run is lit. It works perfectly in a north facing area with little direct sunlight for the solar panel. The light was easy to fit (I am a Civil Engineer), but fitting the light to the bracket during a hailstorm with frozen fingers hampered the process. An improvement would be to have outward facing bolts built into the light body, with nuts and washers fitted from the outside.

It comes on when it should, gives a good cler light and goes off when it should. Installation went like clockwork (except for the little washer for which there was no instruction). The solar panel I fitted to a board and it sits on the garage roof. All in all, chuffed with the whole thing.

1 | 0 This is the second security light I have purchased from this company and I have found them both very effective. My first light lasted several years until the sensor failed which is not replaceable, however the company were very helpful and I purchased a replacement of a very similar model. This works perfectly and was easy to set up. I moved the first light into my garage as it is still charging very well and I use the on/off switch to illuminate the garage on dark nights so I am in essence getting further use out of it until perhaps another component fails. I was also offered a discount with my purchase of the second light . Overall I am very pleased with both the light and the attitude of the company.

3 | 0 This solar powered outside light is easy to install and set up with similar controls to mains powered outside lights. It is robustly built and well waterproofed. The solar panel is a good size and the cable length allows a range of choice of location in relation to the light. The installation instructions recommend positions for the 3 control settings - I did not find that these worked very well and had to adjust them once darkness fell, but that was quite easy. A diagram with 'drill your holes xx cms apart' would have been helpful.

The solar panel cable tied wonderfully onto the run cage roof and I cable tied the light into the corner of the run cage. The variable functions to set the light intensity, duration etc are a fab feature too. Would highly recommend. I don't have to worry at all about my girls being down the bottom of the garden in the dead of night anymore!

So far so good for lighting but not been up more than 2 days so I will review again if charge starts to drop. Solar panel is south facing so hopefully won't be a problem

1 | 0 Fitted the solar security light today and found the instructions not very clear as there was no mention of a rubber O ring in the box. Also the connector plug was not a good fit as it would not tighten up fully so had to wrap some electrical tape around it to prevent any rain water from getting in. The solar panel is also very difficult to install,do you attach the wall brackets to the light or to the wall first as there is no mention in the instructions as to the order this should be done. Hopefully the light will operate without any problems only time will tell.

1 | 0 I moved to a house where there are no street lights and after dark in winter it is dark. I mean dark that when you come out the front door you cant see the car 2 meters away, oh the caris also white!!!! I have bought lights in the past and whilst they work great in the summer they just dont in the winter. Well not the case with this baby it's now late November and when I get home on comes this little light every time. It is still going strong when I get up early to get the train. Simple as anything to fit and to set and made of proper material not the cheap stuff you get at the DIY store. The only bad thing I could say is that the cable from the panel to the light was not long enough in my case but I found out that these guys also sell a 5 meter extension cable. I have now just ordered another light for the Back of the house with the extension cable.

Yes the light is not quite as bright as the hard wired light but it is enough for my small back garden. I am very pleased with it.

Sorry that I could not get a match for an earlier light on the same building line. This one is not as bright as the other but it serves requirements. Concern initially with inability to have it switch off, having tried various positions on the PIR controls. These I found small. Difficult to see and adjust until I used a "light-up" magnifier. (73 with "essential tremor" was added problem in setting. I think I've cracked it. Solacentre are good for service and after-sales. I would recommend them.

0 | 0 The light arrived quickly and was well packaged. The instructions are easy to follow and the light appears to be well constructed. As mentioned elsewhere, the ball joint on the solar panel is inadequate - despite tightening the keeper screws, it would not withstand strong winds. The sensor has a good range and the 30 watt bulb is adequate to illuminate the area that the dogs use at night. Also as mentioned previously, the fitting screws are not up to the job and I substituted them for a larger size. All in all, it has saved me a lot of time and expense that would have been incurred by fitting a mains powered light but time will tell!

0 | 0 The light is a solid metal construction (PIR is plastic) and good quality for the price. The amount of light is pretty acceptable and lights up the ally-way at the side of the house pretty well, never quite as bright as you expect (approx. to a 30 watt bulb) but OK. As others have mentioned the ball joint connecting the solar panel to its base is pretty poor, it does have positions where it 'locks' into place, but it's pretty weak and I'm sure it will move over time. One solution could be to fill the ball joint with silicon filler once you're happy with its positioning, but this really shouldn't be necessary. Finally, I highly recommend that you throw away the cheap and nasty screws and wall plugs supplied with it and use some of better quality, the screws are soft so the heads round off really easily, and the wall plugs don't grip very well. It's a good product that with a few minor tweaks could be made pretty much perfect!

0 | 0 As with other fitters, solar panel ball joint loose. Mounted at 2.5 metres from the ground, the PIR sensor did not operate over a distance of 15ft over the roofs of cars and so did not trigger and light up dark corner of car park. A bit finicky!

0 | 0 I haven't yet fitted this anywhere. It may yet be returned for refund, as I find it odd that a security light should have an easily-accessible and clearly labelled on/off switch! Unless an intruder is spotted immediately - unlikely if the householder is in bed - there is an opportunity for the intruder to switch the unit off without being noticed. 1 | 1 My light arrived on time, this is my second Evo SMD, it's small powerful and very easy to install, the extension cable (bought separately) allowed me to install the light 10 metres from the solar collector which is exactly what I needed. The light was pre-charged and therefore worked straightaway, it was very easy to set-up and it works perfectly with good illumination of my garden, I would certainly recommend this product.

0 | 0 I like the light. The remote solar charger gives great freedom of placement and the light charges quickly. I bought and installed during early Feb and the unit has been working well. There are some issues; The solar panel is loose in the ball and socket joint and has no way to tighten it. I was unable to adjust the sensitivity. Even with the sensitivity turned to minimum, the light still triggers in bright daylight. It was not as bright as I had hoped, but is adequate for visitors approaching the front door. Overall a good product, but needs some tweaking.

"the light works well, sensitivity and adjustments work very well also sensor range however one issue was the ball mount on solar panel couldn't tighten up enough to make the panel immovable." Service from "The Solar Centre is second to none. Each time my order was delivered the next day without having to pay extra for next day delivery. Well done! 2 | 0 My old evo security light finally died after many years of good service. This was a replacement, to be situated on a metal bar projecting over a passageway. It was not a straightforward swap. I needed to drill a hole in thick metal, no easy job for a short 68 year old widow but that was the most difficult part. The light is in place, held by two good bolts through the metal and is working very well.

0 | 0 The plastic cap which screws over the connection between the light and the solar panel was on the cable side of the the panel connector and would not slip over the raised rings on the connector in order to screw into the light connector. It took me as long to force it over the raised rings as it had done to install the entire lighting system. The light works well.

Only thing I would suggest is keeping some cockpit shine or some similar polish on the solar panel to stop the plastic face fading in the sun over time.

Only moan is that it thinks a winter day up North is night time, so it switches on when it detects someone during the day - even when it's adjusted to its limit. Not a problem though, as there's not a great deal of traffic where it's sighted.

I've avoided ones with sensors in the past as they never seemed to work, but the PIR on this one is sensitive and so far working perfectly.

Have had the light itself angled on a piece of timber as it was wanted for a corner light and as light itself doesn't pivot my fitter came up with a good plan! But those screws would never have held it! Hence the four star rating. Light came on first evening, without much powering up and as it is angled to our south facing garden it just keeps on getting brighter! Not sure I would have paid full price but so far pleased with my purchase.

1 | 0 Good value and easy to install. Particularly liked the sole powered idea due to the placement of the lights would have made it difficult to connect to the mains power. Got 2, one for the garden and another for the driveway. Wish I'd gone for the 750 lumen one for the garden, as I hadn't truly understood how much light cover it offers. But the one for the driveway is perfect. Also have to admit, trying to fix the light to the wall was challenging as the holes in the bracket are obstructed by the light. However you can take the light off the bracket but then you have the challenge of trying to refix the light to the bracket once the brackets fixed to the wall...could do with a bit more consideration on this and it'd be perfect. I'd still buy these, if I need more lighting in the future, though from experience will know what I need to buy. (I'm now considering the sola garden post lights.....).

I ordered an EVO SMD as it appeared to meet my requirements. I have not been dissapointed. It is was fairly easy to mount and set up and worked as desired from the outset. I was so pleased with its performance that I ordered two more to cover other parts of my property. I recommend this product as a cost effective security light solution.

1 | 0 I've purchased a number of products from The Solar Centre, and always been impressed with their prompt delivery and the quality of the lights. I purchased an EVO light just over 12 months ago, and it has given brilliant (excuse the pun) service throughout last winter and into this year; however a couple months ago I noticed the PIR unit had filled with water and the unit had stopped working. I contacted The Solar Centre and they immediately sent a replacement, which they said had improved sealing. Only a couple of months into the replacement - I started having issues again - so again contacted The Solar Centre; who were very surprised to hear of additional issues - after a couple of messages back and forth and to my intense embarrassment it was found that the fault was of my making!! - I had mounted the unit in such a way the PIR was upside down - thus allowing water into the unit - Whoops!! But in true customer service fashion, The Solar Centre have sent me a replacement free of charge, which I have dutifully promised to fit the correct way up!! Thanks very much to The Solar Centre for all their help with this issue. I would whole heartily recommend both this light and The Solar Centre.

It has worked throughout the winter reliably to light the area around the drive/back door. Not as bright as the old mains light they replace but adequate for getting around, causing less light pollution and cheaper. Excellent service, easily fitted.

It is exceptionally easy to install if you remove the bracket first but I was sorry to see that despite having being told about it in other reviews that the screw heads are STILL TOO SMALL and either need to be changed or you have to fit a bigger screw. The light however does everything it should and is certainly bright enough for our entranceway.

Very easy to install ( I removed the light bracket first)& once done left it switched off for five days to ensure full charge. once it got dark gave it a test by walking towards the garage and hey presto, we have light. Great light source for what I need. My only niggle is on mine the Solar charger is fixed to a ball joint to allow it to swivel, I found that it was way too lose without means to tighten it. On my set up this is not a hardship. The problem could be resolved by a couple of screws to allow the user to adjust the panel and to maintain the direction with out a even a slight breeze knocking it of course. Winter light will be the real test for charging but looking forward to summer before then.

1 | 0 Dial-a-Ride is a charity providing transport for the elderly and disabled. Of late we have had a spate of thefts of wing mirrors and starter motors from our vehicles. A security camera and two of these lights were installed two weeks ago and it has been hilarious watching the thieves jump out of their skins and scarper when these lights come on. They are tremendously bright and worth every penny.

Fitting was straightforward, despite the inadequate size of the screw heads, which meant that I had to add washers before screwing the bracket for the lamp to the wall. The 5m connecting cable was more than adequate for placing the solar panels in optimum locations away from the lamps, but needed to get a pack of cable clips to secure the cable run. Light output is good enough to provide low intensity illumination from a height of about 4m.

0 | 0 This is a very good lamp. Easy to install. I cannot comment on the actual working of the lamp as it was for a customer and not my own use, I have not had any feed back so it must be OK. I have only given this a four star rating, the reason is that the heads of fixing screws are just not large enough to secure the lamp. Would i buy another one? Yes indeed. first class service.

You need to put your own washers under the screw head to mount the light or re-drill the bracket. Turns a simple job into a trip to the DIY store.

This time I removed the bracket from the light which made fitting easier. Excellent light given every bit as bright as mains floodlight. Fully adjustable for time, angle and sensitivity.

Working perfectly in Scottish january/Feb. Belts out plenty light when triggered .... for free (well after the purchase). Great company and very high product quality . As per other review the mounting screws were missing a couple of washers to stop them going through the bracket but i have a tin of them so no biggy. Fast delivery see a good bunch lots of products.

0 | 0 I have to say I was sceptical of Solar lights after seeing the dire garden lights you usually see in peoples gardens. We have just bought a new house, with a garage with no power which is a long way from the house. The cost to get power was going to be expensive so I thought i'd spend £40.00 and give the Evo a try and I have to say I am very impressed so far. The install is easy, long cable to the solar panel which i've placed in a good South facing position at the other side of the garage and the light is excellent. Great power and very happy. I'll be buying more lights from these guys.

2 | 2 I installed this easily and the cable stretched from one end of my largish shed to the other end across the roof. It was a little fiddly to screw the light onto the shed so I do recommend (as the instructions say you might have to) that you remove the light from the bracket using the side bolts. Light was charged up when it arrived and light was a lot brighter than I was expecting. The light angle can be moved up and down but not side to side which is a shame. I would prefer a light that illuminates where the PIR is pointing rather than just straight forward but I can rectify this with some DIY on the shed. On/off switch is a little too visible and if you are using this as a security light on the shed you do not want anyone reaching up to switch the light off. I would prefer that this switch is hidden around the back more. All said I was very pleased with the light.

It was placed on a south facing wall, so no particular need for siting the panel. It was relatively easy to fix. When switched on during a dull winters day it functioned immediately and continues to do so. Good value.

0 | 1 Good traditional style security light where you can individually adjust the angle of the light, the sensor and place the solar panel where it gets the most sun. Adjustable for lux, time, sensitivity and so far is working with our limited winter daylight hours. Detects to 12m as it says on the box. As previous reviewer says - the screws supplied are too small to mount the light, they fell through the holes. Seems they have had a batch with the wrong screws supplied. I just used my own stainless screws that I luckily had to hand. Still 5 * rating.

1 | 1 Bought this light as a replacement for a light that had water in it. This looked more robust and after initially charging it the light is really powerful and easily lights up the area around the back of the house. The one suggestion I would say is if the lead could be longer or be able to be extended. The light relies on the sun and sometimes it's not possible to mount the solar panel in its optimum spot so you have to take that into account when mounting the lamp. Apart from that a good bit of kit and the usual prompt efficient service from the solar centre.

0 | 1 Very good quality light. awesome PIR distance. good light output for the tiny 10w SMD led. im using it to light up a driveway at end of garden.. time will tell.. as my place is on coast and gets hit by strong winds/rain. I had to secure the light/pir/pv cell better with bits of wood. A few things required for next version..... -- consider a brighter LED option. are you able to make a option for a 50w SMD light? or would pv panel have to be increase? -- Add a position locking mechanism for the PIR sensor. you can lock it in position on the vertical axis, but not horizontally. Have had to secure mind further with zip ties due to strong winds moving it. Although the vertical locking isn't brilliant (change to a secure nut/bolt design?) -- the PV cell ball joint isn't idle in windy places. and it could move easy on the slightly touch. add a option for the user to detach the ball joint and fixing points on side of panel to allow direct fixing to a surface... or on another note. change the ball joint for one that can be tightened securely. A two light option and 1 pv cell option would be good.

0 | 1 Lights up a north facing entrance from 35 feet, and at 90 degrees to the light. Mounted the panel on a bracket to face south over the entrance door. Currently set to turn off after 45 seconds. Very useful lighting up the access steps, saving electricity. Much appreciated by the rest of the household. Will see how it enjures the Welsh weather at 700 feet altitude.

My husband found them fairly easy to install but siting the panels to get the sunlight proved a bit awkward. However after a bit of trial and error the units charged up quickly and are working well. 1 | 1 I needed a light for my garden to allow me to find our rabbit and put him away in his hutch for the night. The light is very well manufactured and was very easy to install. There are however two small issues that I have found : 1: The solar panel does not stay at the angle it is set and falls flat as the knuckle is loose so, optimum angle for catching the sunlight maybe affected? 2: The brightness. The unit I purchased has the lower output. In hindsight, I possibly should have purchased the more powerful Evo56? All in all though, a very good quality product that was dispatched very quickly and well packaged.

0 | 1 I was going to buy another Eye Security Light, but saw this new light at a tempting price and bought it instead. The problems with waterproofing in older generation lights have been addressed, and this is a robust looking light. It was easy to install and gives out a good bright light, however it does not have the versatility of the Eye: the sensor is beneath the light instead of separate, which limits its range. The solar panel is of a good size and has a fair length of cable which attaches securely to the light. I have not been able to position the panel in an ideal spot, but it works well anyway. Overall, I prefer the Eye, but if the waterproofing of this light could be used on the Eye, that would be the perfect light in my opinion!

1 | 1 The first light had the mounting bolts cross threaded, the glue on connecting tube from the light to the sensor did not take. Contacted The Company and they immediately sent out a replacement, however the ball joint on the Solar Panel was loose and unable the position the Solar Panel without it falling down. Used the Solar Panel from the first light, so I have made one working light from 2. I am not impressed by the quality control on these products but impressed by the responce of the Company

This one was faulty, but upon ringing them, they sent another one out the same day! Great service and once the solar panels have charged up the lights, my garden with be protected. 1 | 2 I had problems with water getting into my Evo36 so I contacted solar centre who kindly offered me money back and this new Evo SMD fitting. The difference is obvious the minute you take it out the box. The waterproofing weak points on the older model have been well and truly dealt with on the SMD which has been sealed to a very high standard. The light has been working very well so far but the true test will come in winter.

2 | 1 Didn't expect this to compete with my Evo36 which finally gave up the ghost after 3 years service, but it does. If anything its actually brighter than the 36 even though the unit is quite a bit smaller (the solar panel is same size as 36). Definitely prefer the warm white on this to the blue white of the 36 and the unit looks much more waterproof too.
