... but don't worry about the review title. These lights are highly efficient and last for a good three years or so. But I also buy the (cheaper) replacement 'tops' for them which, because the lights' constructions/materials last well and look good means that I can get around 6 plus years out of the lights plus replacement tops. They always work well and I tend to switch them to low illumination over winter, when sun is less available - and then switch them on to full power in summer, when they will easily last all night. Excellent product(s).

2 | 0 Absolutely delighted with the London XT solar lights. Firstly, from order to delivery (in the NW Highlands) took about 23 hours - a record, I think! The lights look fantastic; though of simple construction they seem robust. We don't get much sun here, but the lights (on the lower setting) are coming on at dusk and glowing brightly for a full 12 hours (in the Highlands in November). I honestly didn't expect this performance at this price. Highly recommended.

2 | 0 I purchased these in a sale, so they were a vey good price. Good sized lights, I have placed them at the top of my drive to help when turning in. I have set them to the lower light setting, which is still enough to show the position of the drive and so far despite rather indifferent and dull January weather they have kept their charge, one of them in a less shady position had gone through the night- some 14 hours of darkness. Good looking lights too.

2 | 0 I have six of these lights around my garden which I've had for several years. I've occasionally had to replace the solar section of the lamps but only after several years of use. The shades are now getting a bit hard and break easily but I'm not sure they can be replaced. Overall these are very good lamps and operate well in all seasons. Highly recommend them.

I bought a pair of the large lights and a set of 4 of the smaller ones. They work really well, lighting up the steps and walk way in our garden with ease. I wouldn't say you could read by the light given, but is is more than enough to do what we need. Great purchase, would highly recommend this product. .

0 | 0 I purchased two sets and am delighted with them. Positioned on my drive, not in direct sunlight all day but they still stay on (power saving setting) for over six hours. I have found that they are sensitive to IR light from cctv camera mounted on the front of my garage. The light closest to the camera had to be moved further away to make it switch on automatically when it gets dark. Not a problem though.

Despite a cloudy day I'm amazed at how quickly they charged up and are giving excellent light now. The only very minor criticism is that the light is not warm white but a cool white. Luckily I haven't bought my wall light yet so will adjust to match.

Now halfway through their second winter and they have never faltered. I cannot believe how they keep on lighting through the winter from dusk to dawn, with so little charge, on winter days.. They are attractive and sturdy. Would highly recommend them. Best I have ever had and well worth the money.

The light switch is under the top circle of 'stainless steel'. One was easy to access but the other would not budge, however hard I tried. The Solar Centre sent me a replacement by return of post and did not charge me. Very satisfactory indeed.

They charge up fine on the north side of our house in the summer, with at most an hour or two of direct sun, can't comment about winter yet. They are an energy saving setting for winter. My only reservation is that the silver colour combined with the white shade is not very in keeping with our Victorian house, red brick, black door, brass door furniture, black cast iron down pipes. A matt black would be more on trend and look smart, and an antique brass would be great too. Solar centre doesn't have any options other than silver and I think a few different colours might be appreciated by customers. This has lost a star from my review.

I particularly like the metal stake as you normally get s plastic one, so very sturdy. No problems so far as there is plenty of sun. Good quality lights which live up to the claim of 10 hours light time...they come on a dusk and are still same brightness at dawn.. Admittedly its summer and sunny days at the moment, but nice to have option to switch them to winter mode, or even turn them off to fully charge for any special occasion you may have...

The London XT are the best yet! They look like they cost twice what they did, fit securely and work, they come on at dusk and go off at dawn and are still as bright after 10 hours as when they first light we can't reccomend them highly enough fantastic lights

However, I had doubts that they would continue to light through the winter....as solar lights, in general do not. How wrong I was they have never failed even after numerous dull, rainy and overcast days. I often look out after dark and fully expect that they will be off....now way. Their performance is outstanding and unbelievable. Will never buy lights from anywhere else after this experience.

They have been set on the lower setting and a fortnight later are still glowing all night long. Provide useful illumination for a change of level from decking to paving.

I set them up on arrival and after a week of rain, then checked to see if they had filled up with water like most solar lights do. Thankfully, tiny bit of water ingress which will drain out through the little hole in the bottom, so I've ordered more!

2 | 0 These lights are, in my opinion, the best quality, especially at this price. I have six. They give off a jolly good light. Use the ‘P' setting in winter to prolong light through the evening. Very pleased with them. Suzy, in customer care, immediately replaced a couple of heads that were playing up. Their customer service is excellent. In my opinion, good idea to maintain and check your lights regularly. I use WD40 on the base and bolt to prevent rust. Remember the batteries need to be changed every two years and wipe away moisture ( condensation ) which builds up in the battery housing. Check for rust and rub off gently. I recommend doing this weekly in the winter

1 | 0 The tops are a great improvement over previous model but still get water damage. I stick them in the lawn at about 50 degrees from vertical to get as much sunlight as possible so this may let some rain/condensation leak in.

2 | 0 Recently bought the London XT Solar Post Lights (Set Of 2), they are working from dusk to dawn. In November 2017 I purchased 4 and they worked all winter ,dusk to dawn and have continued to do so far this winter. The six lights provide excellent illumination to our front path. Please note they are situated in a south facing location therefore receive the maximum sunlight even during the winter months.

1 | 0 These lights look great and work very well, but I wish they were a little better designed and made - even for £15 or so each. The weak point is the base of the steel tube, which is a flimsy steel disk fastened with four small and vulnerable tack welds - very inadequate and prone to breaking either when pushing the spike into thje ground, even if using something to push directly onto the baseplate (don't push the tube itself), or through casual knocking-into. Impossible to repair, too. Overall I am pleased with the performance and effect, but these lights have been a little too cost-reduced so I am not sure how long they will last. I would pay a few quid more for the mk2 model, though!

2 | 0 This was my first purchase of solar lighting of any kind. You hear of so many products bought by folks which turn out disappointing. So, I did alot of research and phoned the solar centre with queries before purchase 8 of these London XT solar post lights. Firstly, the service from the solar centre was excellent. I chose standard free delivery up to 5 days and they arrived the next day. Really good service. The post lights themselves look polished and easy to assemble. They were 12 Lumens intensity. I charged them up for two days and switched them on. The auto on was faultless and the light emitted was very good, easily lighting my flower beds. They switched on about 7pm and when I got up at 5am the next day, they were still on with still a good light intensity. Overall, very impressed with the lights themselves and the Solar Centre. I will be buying more. Thanks.

On the P powersave setting you can barely notice the difference in brightness but the lights literally go all night. Highly recommended, currently considering the Mini ones for elsewhere in the garden.

1 | 0 Well pleased, after the initial 3 days charging the lights are coming on around 8:30pm (dusk)and going off around 5:30am (daybreak) this is on the P longer lighting setting which still gives a very bright light. After buying several different types off the internet and from garden centres which have been binned these are by far the best and well worth a couple of quid more . On the success of these I'm now going to try the sensor fence lights.

1 | 0 Over a few months have bought 14 of the larger London XT Lights simply because they are superior in quality and light production than any other solar lights I've tried. Would recommend them to anyone wanting to light a path or border. Plus they are a sort of security system. If ever the light fails ( I've had one go down) an email order to SolarCentre brings a replacement top. Better than throwing the whole unit away. May have to buy a few more sometime.

1 | 0 Have had these about two weeks now and even though I haven't switched to the highest setting (there are two settings) , they provide a very bright light over our patio steps. So they look decorative, but have a health & safety function too. One of the light's plastic switchplate was a bit loose, but managed to push it back on & hasn't been a problem since. Ideally would like these in black as would look more 'cottagy' and suit our house better, but can't have everything. Overall - very good quality for the money.

Charged as instructed and lights have worked well ever since. Only issue is that has to be complete darkness before they come on I would like to see them come on at dusk. They are properly packaged and the assembly instructions could not be clearer. The only issue was with ordering, as there was some time between the order confirmation and the shipment notification. I was not expecting the shipment notification, as the website states this would not be sent but can be requested. This made it slightly confusing. Shipping through Amazon was not an issue, except that they usually get their timing wrong for international shipments (estimate too long vs actual). As you can track the shipment, this was not a problem. Al in all a very good experience.

0 | 0 I purchased the London XT Solar Post Lights as a replacement for my hard wired low voltage post lights which failed and needed total replacement. Rather than go through the process of recabling etc., I decided to investigate if there was a suitable solar powered alternative. The London lights are the same post light design as the low voltage lights they replaced BUT would they provide the same level of lighting as each of the old 10watt bulb lights? The answer, much to my surprise and delight, is YES. Rather than use the stakes supplied I made a concrete block support for each light and screwed the lights to them. The blocks, which are buried just under the soil surface, provide a sturdy anchor. The only disadvantage of solar powered lights is that can't just flick a switch and turn them off each night, unless you go round each light and turn them off individually. Obviously I cannot vouch for the longevity of the lights but they seem to be good quality so I am assuming they will last a good long while. In conclusion I would have no hesitation in recommending this product.

On opening, they are easy to install and held our breath wondering if they would work and indeed they did that evening and have done every day thereafter. We have quite stoney ground, so we used a metal spike/hammer to make a hole in the ground first. They are set on the dim setting which is more than adequate. Good product and very pleased with them.

The lights look smart and are just right for use beside our front gate and gate post as we have no street lights. The ground spike is strong and was easy to get into our clay soil. 1 | 0 I have been an avid follower/user of solar lights for several years. These are the best ever. The light produced is actually, for us, too bright! So we were able to switch them from the 'S' position to the 'P' position which reduces the output but with an associated increase in length of 'burn' time. So for us win/win. On the 'P' setting they last through to dawn at this time of year. A bit taller than their predecessors (we had Frostfire Posts, themselves a good quality product but no longer available) these have quite an imposing presence and are well made. OK, it's early days (4 to be precise) and the proof of the pudding will be in their durability. But looking very good so far...

They give off an excellent bright light on this setting which hasn't dulled over the last four days since switching on. Hopefully these will last many years. Easy to assemble and install.

I have them on the lower setting but even so they give out an excellent light for most of the night. I can't wait to see what happens when the sun comes out ! I did found that it is worth checking the batteries as part of the problem appeared to be that the batteries were not all making contact and the switches also needed a little fine tuning. Once working they are an excellent product and The Solar Centre are an excellent company to deal with.

The lights themselves are very attractive to look at, light in weight, and were easy to fix into the soil. Because of the short daylight hours just now, I left the lights to charge for 3 days before activating them, and on the first night of use they lit up around 5pm and were still lit at 6am. Very impressive. The light is fairly soft white, and looks nice at the edge of our garden path. I intend to order a further set for the top half of the path. Would certainly recommend these lights.

1 | 0 We bought 3 sets and we have had them in place for a couple of weeks. If they do work out to be good we will need more as we have a large garden. Still in the early stages at the moment, but they arrived well packaged. One of the tops arrived not sitting in correctly ( and seemed to have glue on when the others didn't ) but after a lot of fidgeting it went into place and we cleaned small amount of sticky residue off. The lights are visually great and they are easy to set up. Not as bright as I expected, but they are not really getting lots of bright sunlight at the moment. Generally grey and gloomy since they were installed., so possibly perform better with more sunlight for longer periods. They do look well, but hope they perform better with more sustained sunlight. Don't get me wrong, they are certainly not a disaster, they are better than cheap alternatives. So good delivery time, good looking lights and just waiting to see if a little bit more sun makes them brighter and last a little longer. If that is the case, we will get some more.

IN removing the top the solar part fell out on one of them and chipped so had to tape it on the inside to stay.put. So far they have behaved little inconsistent. Really bright one morning when my husband got up. Yet slightly dim of an evening .They are both in clear area but obviously take in different amount of solar. Strangely the chipped one is the brightest . I did buy as back up though as when windy the security lights come on too often. they still work better and brighter than previous ones we had.

Just needed something that would guide me when reversing into our drive in the dark, and act as 'landing lights." I was really surprised by the amount of illumination these lights give out, and even on the low setting, a pair of lights gave us plenty for our needs. Came on at 7pm, still lit at 6am. Very easy to assemble and given the reduced light available this time of year I have switched the lights over to power save mode which at presents means they stay alight all night until dawn. I need to see how these perform over the winter and how they cope with adverse conditions. In addition I bought a pair of the xtra power save heads but not used yet. Overall the lights look good and are reasonably robust.

0 | 0 These were bought with much thought, knowing solar lights are not long lasting nor fully waterproof (most of them). So after needing lights desperately to finish off my garden landscaping, I couldn't help but go for these, as they are the best looking ones out there at a reasonable price. They were bought early September, so have received plenti of sunlight to turn on at dusk and end near dawn, a time of roughly 8 hours, which is quite good. However, only time will tell wether they can handle the effects of winter weather, and if enough sunlight will be absorbed by the panel to turn on long enough for the longer winter nights. So far, two weeks down, worked without a problem. Only issue I have which is important, is that it only gives off a glow, and not really a light to give a spot light sort of effect for neighbouring flower beds or planters, so cannot see my landscaping features at night which is a real let down. All in all, they still look good, just not powerfully lit enough for the night effect, albeit they do work. 4/5. Great service and delivery by the way, and medium-good quality product, maybe not as strong and sturdy as you might think, but will do the job.

When the offer after the Olympics came on decided to buy some more, bought two more sets. One seems not to work at all! Will be contacting Solarcentre! 2 | 0 I've only had these a few days, but initial impressions are positive. Lights were delivered quickly and well packaged - the packet of Haribos was a nice touch! Lights are of quality construction and after a day of sunshine gave off good light, coming on when it was getting dark and stayed on until sometime after midnight (when I was in bed). After a wet and cloudy day the lights also came on but were a little less bright (but still OK) and started turning off after about 4 hours. The heavy rain does not appear to have affected the lights. I haven't played around with the S and P switch yet. So overall very pleased with the lights so far.

My driveway is so dark so thought after reading the reviews that I would give them a try. They arrived promptly & were well packaged.They look so elegant and are so very efficient in giving me the right amount of light I so badly needed. Only one tiny criticism was that there weren't any instructions as to when to change the P for S on the sola panel top.

We ordered 18 lights which effectively mark our driveway which is important in a dark rural area. 17 of the lights worked without a problem, but there is always one. On inspection I noted that it appeared to be pre owned, there were traces of soil inside. The light did not come on and I have switched it off and am leaving it out for the requisite three days. Then if it does not work I will test the customer service! Overall I am well pleased with the product, which is more that I can say of the courier service selected. Evelyn J

I was going to install some mains power lights with low voltage transformers, but could not decide where to position the lamps, so the cabling could not be installed under the soil/ paving. my wife suggested why done we wait and put in Sola lights! that way we can put them where we want. ordered 6 of the London sola lights and i couldn't be happier with the effect. well built, and good looking. Fed up with naff solar lights that give out the candlepower of a glowworm on a diet, I plumped for the London XT Solar Post Lights. Putting them together was a doddle and they charged up really quickly (mind you, it was very sunny and hot for a change). The light they give out is very powerful. Easily enough to see clearly in the garden on a non-moonlit night, if I were so inclined. They don't seem to lose charge that quickly either, and are still there, glowing away happily as I go to bed. I am thinking about buying more to fill another side of the garden. Very happy. Thanks.

1 | 0 For what these are, they're great.I was planning on buying the larger ones (durham) but took a punt on these and am glad to have done so. There's minimal self assembly required (screw the spikes into the unit). Remember to switch to either P or S modes (middle setting is OFF!). The unit is very light and there's nothing really to hold it together. The top silver bit above the white bit contains the circuity, solar panel and SMD. The middle white bit is an empty plastic tube. The metal base is hollow with some drain holes. It's quite easy to knock the top off so be careful if you have kids around. If it had been screwed together, that would have been more secure. Would have been 4-stars but bought them during a sale so paid only £20. I'm now contemplating whether to buy another set of these or go for the Durham ones.

I came across these particular lights by chance, and was impressed by the reviews from other customers. They are easy to set up, and whilst the housing is plastic at the top, the build quality of having a metal spike is excellent. There are 2 options for brightness, but I have kept on the brightest level which is superb - far better than anything else on the market for solar lighting. Highly recommended.

Were it not for the above, I'd award 4 or 5 stars.

0 | 0 Purchased 3 sets of 2 and have installed 5 so far - all are working. They give a decent amount of light, for my purposes at any rate. Surprising lightweight, but appear well made. I screwed them into wood for which you'll need the following: panhead screws (the lights don't come with any screws), a very long screwdriver (get one from your local DIY store) and a bit of bluetack (lets you "stick" the screw to the driver so you can position it in the pilot hole). Very quick and easy to install with the right tools.

0 | 0 Look good and easy to assemble. They provide sufficient light for delineating a drive or path but do not (as yet, in winter) provide much light. Due to lack of daylight at this time of year, they also do not last very long. Hoping the length of time they shine will improve considerably as the days get longer.

0 | 0 Delighted. OK so they only give low light output but this clear from the description and I use them to delineate rather than brightly illuminate a path/ drive so they do all I want. The on/off, P,S markings are small and rather indistinct - could be made clearer. Overall I recommend these but be realistic about where they are used.

1 | 0 Work well when its not been overcast and dull but as I live in Scotland not to much sun at the moment. 8.30 at night there on but dim then again its been getting darker since 3.40 so cant expect much else, as not getting a full charge.

1 | 0 I ordered these a couple of weeks ago, they arrived *very* promptly, and I had them sited the same afternoon. They're along one side of a car park at a busy GP surgery, lighting the way to our front gate. Since the lights had been in a sealed box when in transit, and I fitted them on an overcast Cumbrian day, I didn't expect much from them that evening (not enough time to charge up) - but as it fell dark they all lit up. I only need a couple of hours out of them, early evening, and they do this just fine. There are a coupe of comments about having to hold your hand over them - this is to do with the daylight sensor. When there's enough ambient light (ie during the day), the lights don't come on - intentionally. If you have to hold your hand over them, it's just not dark enough yet. (I have a security floodlight on the building, and when it's on the nearest solar light stays off - the light from the floodlight is enough to keep it in 'charge' mode) So quick to arrive, quick to install, and they just do the job - I'm very pleased.

0 | 0 Great lights when they are working. Very temperamental - often only working when I put my hand an inch or so above the light - no idea why. I wondered about static energy. Tried to figure it out but the parts are very simple and there really is not much one can do. They seem to be working now but I reserve further judgment. They are bright as it says in the ad.

Thanks for your comments, it could just be you're shading the panel with your hand, tricking the panel into thinking it's darker than it is and turning the lights on. This could be particularly noticeable around dusk.

2 | 2 I really like the look of these lights and they were very easy to set up and install. We've had lots of compliments about how nice they are. They light the steps on our front path really well. I would definitely recommend them.

0 | 0 These post lights are well made with stainless steel bodies and plastic diffusers, whilst the ground spikes are made of sturdy cast metal rather than flimsy plastic. After charging them for three days in October sunlight with the lights in the off position, we turned them on about ten days ago using the lower brightness setting and the diffusers continue to illuminate nicely and evenly every single night for many hours despite having had several very cloudy days since turn-on. Having purchased several different types of solar-powered lights over the years, these London XT Post Lights seem rather superior and we are currently very happy with them.

1 | 0 It's October, and on the lower brightness setting they last from 7pm to 7am. On the lower setting, the brightness is adequate to see where you're walking without illuminating the whole garden. Nice size, solid metal spike. Only downside (and it's a minor one), is that the lamp/solar panel assembly that sits on top of the diffuser is quite loose, could almost do with a rubber o-ring to make it more snug.

Like the idea of being able to screw to a post if chosen but would prefer to use the proper post lights if wanting to do that. Great lights, great service

They feel sturdy and with the inclusion of a proper metal spike instead of a plastic one found supplied by many other manufactures makes them feel like a quality product. The Solar Centre were very helpful when I got in touch with them so I would have no problem recommending them to others.

When they arrived I was very happy with design and quality, and when nightfall came, also with the nature and brightness of these lights. So much so that I bought another two. If I had a bigger garden, I probably would have bought more.

1 | 0 I bought these lights to replace my old lights I had on my decking. They are great lights look good and the light is bright. It was difficult to see scew them onto my decking due to the depth of the cylinder but I did it in the end you need a long screw driver.

1 | 0 Only set them up several days ago. The battery life is excellent although we have turned them down to the Eco setting. Not to extend the battery life but to reduce the light as we did not want to mistaken for the Heathrow flight path !! First impressions are a well made, substantial product.

1 | 0 Just bought these to replace the older versions which were removed from our front garden by some juvenile delinquent. These are so much better in design and build quality, the batteries are now fully covered with a plastic casing, also they don't collect water on top of the light panel. They also have two light settings S for standard mode and P for reduced brightness with longer running. Excellent product and can wholeheartedly recommend.
