0 | 0 Haven’t paid as much for a light like this and have gone through one or two. It’s a manorial light for my lovely late wife and is for her rose bush. Basically wether there is charge init on arrival or has to be charged via usb, I experienced nothing working didn’t know if it was charging or not. Found the answer in a form of reply in the reviews. When you switch on the lamp press and hold the button down for several seconds and all is well. Very pleased with the product, well made and looks good. Worth the money. Hope this helps.

0 | 0 I bought two of these lights, 8 years ago. They did not have a USB then, just an inbuilt solar battery on top. One of them stopped working 6 years ago, the other one is still working fairly well. I have just ordered two new lights with the USB stick, as my remaining light is looking its age. I would highly recommend these lights.

0 | 0 I now have six of these stunning lights illuminating my garden all year round, as when there is no sun, you simply bring them indoors and charge them via the supplied USB cable. (Just like a mobile phone or Tablet, pretty much ever thing is USB rechargeable these days). Had a small issue with one of the lights where it would not switch on at dusk outside, but would work perfectly indoors when connected to a USB power source. Not a problem, as The Solar Centre replaced it extremely quickly and free of charge. (Excellent customer service and great products). Have now purchased 3 of their USB Solar Crook Lanterns on the back of this products quality and the company's helpfulness. Kept 2 for myself and gave the other to my niece for her new home who absolutely loves it. 5 Star company.

I ordered 4 but had one fail. This was replaced the next day after reporting the problem. I would happily recommend these lights as I would all Solar Centre products. They really bring the garden to life!!!!

We decided to buy another light and found they were no longer stocked at our local garden centre. Instead they were displaying a cheap alternative which looked inferior to Trueflame, hence our online purchase.

We decided to purchase 4 from the Solar Centre as we had bought from them before and been pleased with previous purchases and excellent customer service. The TrueFlame Solar Lights are much better quality than ones seen in garden centre. We charged up by USB and have been outside fir a couple of weeks now and have lit up the garden every night. Very pleased with them and have since purchased another. Would recommend the lights and the Solar Centre

Living in the Scottish Highlands the days in winter are short yet these lights surpassed our expectations and work well. I was so impressed with them I have added another 4 to cheer up the garden. They are coping with -16C at night and I'm getting 6-8 hours from them on just winter sunshine setting. They even charge under a heavy snow covering. One light did prove faulty and was replaced immediately. Excellent customer support and after service. What a big difference these lights are to the cheaper products that are sold in garden centres etc, there's no comparison. Well with the outlay.

1 | 0 Overall an excellent service and an outstanding light. Once ordered, updates and delivery were efficient and quick and the light arrived in excellent condition from its journey. Being Winter, I immediately decided to charge up by USB, user instructions were comprehensive and easy to follow and I left the light to charge for the recommended 3 hours. Unfortunately, after charging, and following the guidelines to hold the on switch for 3 to 5 seconds with the top of the light covered it failed to work. I rand the Solar Centre to explain and after going through the same checks with the assistant whilst on the phone, there was no quibbling, a replacement light was dispatched and again arrived in good order very quickly. The replacement light works perfectly and once charged by USB, came to life in the garden at dusk and continued to flicker away, even still flickering when I awoke the next morning before daybreak. The service has been excellent, and I am impressed with the quality of the light and the lights effects.

1 | 1 I have 4 of these and they do look fantastic. I would give them 5 stars but some nights they don't come on and you have to turn the lights back on again manually. Then, they are fine for another week or so but then you have to repeat the above process.. I did email the company but had no reply.

And they aren't, Ive got them set on the lowest setting, which reduces the brightness and in my opinion makes them more realistic. 0 | 2 Very pleased with the torches and the flickering effect. Yes if you sit and stare at it them there is a recognisable pattern to the flicker but this is inevitable in this price range. If it's just background ambient lighting then it's a very pleasant effect and everyone who has seen them has asked where I purchased them(I'll be in touch to discuss my commission ;) ) A friend told me these were available from a high street retailer for half the price..... they are not! I checked them out and the ones available on the high street were not even close on build quality, had a very cheap PV panel and the flicker effect was rubbish. I'm happy I paid that little extra for the better quality. If you want a nice flame effect ambient light I would recommend. If you want to be picky about the flame effect then use an oil lamp!

2 | 1 We bought one of these in May last year, and were very pleased with it. On ordering, I'd suspected that it might be horribly tacky (given the usual quality of solar moving flames), but it actually looks very good indeed. Shame on me for doubting! We were so happy with it that we ordered two more in July, and were initially equally chuffed. They give off a lovely warm light, and the flickering is realistic - so much so that my mother panicked when she saw them for the first time, thinking that we had a burning bush in the garden. After but a few weeks, however, one of them stopped working (except *very* sporadically - possibly three or four times until now). We're not sure whether it's from the first or second order, but either way, it's rather disappointing. The other two continue to do their thing so wonderfully that I'm about to order one or two more, so fingers crossed we don't find another rogue light.

I already have 3 of the original units, great in summer, pretty useless presently., non removable battery for charging was a massive oversight. Now the USB version is the next best thing, what an imptovement and now worth the money, jist for the pleasure they give. Solar Centre please take my 3 original ones back and exchange for the USB versions. Price please, dont expect it for free. The last one, given in September, unfortunately did not work but my brother did not admit this until November! I contacted customer services and Luke, after advising how best to check that it was indeed faulty, immediately sent out a replacement which I received the following day. The flame is very realistic and feels cosy in the same way a real fire does. Due to the proximity of one close to my security light it doesn't always come back on after the dogs been out for her final visit to the garden and at the moment ( April ) they run out about midnight/1pm . However, the second night one of the lights failed to switch on and I manually had to press the button for three seconds to activate the light. First I thought it was just a glitch, but unfortunately the same happened the following night. After following the advise of the Solar Centre, we persevered with this light for another week, but for some unknown reason this particular solar light will not activate itself when dark. It only works when you manually switch it on. The Solar Centre has kindly posted me another one and this one works fine. Excellent Customer Service as always!

0 | 0 I wrote to you as soon as I received the torches….I was soooooo impressed with the service from the outset. Site was easy to use and from the point I ordered I received exemplary service, keeping me up to date continually from acknowledgement of order to delivery. I was given three days notice of delivery with a one hour slot notified on the day. Driver arrived within four minutes of stated start time, so did not even have to wait the whole hour! The torches are exactly as promised…very very attractive. Too early yet to take full advantage of them, but they look superb and very unusual. These days I find more and more companies are deteriorating in their customer service and once you order you dont matter any more. This makes your company pretty exceptional. I would have no hesitation whatsoever to recommend your company (and believe me I am fussy), and the product, and to come back to you if I need anything else. Dont be put off by some comments as you may think they are poor quality when they are quite robust. I have many different lights from this wonderful company but these are my new favourites. I dont know how they work but the effect is like nothing else on the market. I didn't what to turn them off in the house! Love them.

Would recommend this product, and yes, agree with what other reviewers have said about the plastic - but to be honest the effect of the flame effect is so nice - you do not even realise it is plastic! Wish I had purchased 2 at the time to save £10.......... Would enhance any garden........... Rose in Enfield.

0 | 0 I purchased recently a pair and what a pair.They are so realistic, easy to move to follow the sun and place anywhere in the garden you wish to see a living flame effect with quite decent illumination. I agree they are plasticky but you could spray or paint a metallic finish easily after applying a the right type of primer. I also feel that it could be a good buy if you could purchase the the working part from the company and fit into many old recycled lamps,pierced metal cans or even a plain old jam jar. I have purchased from the centre many different lights but these are a little bit special. Patrick from Basingstoke

0 | 0 Bought as a gift so haven't seen them in situ yet, but I did try it out before giving it, and was very impressed with the effect. I charged it up on quite a cloudy day, but the charge was still enough to power the light. It really does look like a real flame! Also plastic casing feels very robust. Would definitely recommend.

0 | 0 I think I was a little disappointed with the obvious plastic exterior. However it is solid. Then when they came on, I was truly amazed. Stand next to them or viewed from afar, they are fantastic. Coat the outside with something metallic looking and these will be perfection.

0 | 0 These are just great. They even burn at Christmas, especially if you can do north facing. I have 2 out the front [south facing] and 3 at the back [which is north facing.] The back ones just shine for about an hour but as its mid December, I think that's pretty good. Other solar lights in neighbours' gardens have long since given up completely. The ones out the front vary depending on weather but I usually get between 3 and 6 hours per night. So many people comment on them because they do look like flaming torches. I think they're superb.

I would like o put them either side of the front door, but cannot think of a way to erector them Any thoughts off a bracket. Also as they would be in a public area they will get stolen so I have think of a way to avoid theft. Anyway, a great product. I have bought 12 for Christmas presents. I think this time you have racked the potential rust problem of the so called stainless steel items you had. !

0 | 0 Absolutely fabulous lights, you won't believe the realistic effect considering it's a solar light. They have the same mesmerizing effect as real flame. They look truly spectacular against our cedar panels. The part of the garden they are in is not the sunniest and even on a cloudy, dull day they come on every night for a good couple of hours. I put the torch part in the sunshine for a few hours one day and that night they lasted almost through the night. Very good quality and sturdy. We are so pleased with them we will be buying two more.

The flickering orange light looks exactly like real flames, and lighting up a driveway, as we've put them, looks truly spectacular. They work perfectly, are easy to operate and install, and arrived on time. I cannot recommend these lights highly enough. 0 | 0 I too read the reviews for these lights and based on that purchased two of them. I AM NOT DISAPPOINTED. THEY ARE FANTASTIC. After leaving them charge they worked straight away and even thought the nights are dark quite early now , providing there has been some sun during the day the lights remain on until about midnight. I bought some outdoor fairy lights from this firm and they too are spectacular and both together look amazing

0 | 0 I was a bit apprehensive at first because my light was not pre-charged and didn't work. However, I left it to charge for 3 days then tried again. This did the trick and it works perfectly. I was so impressed by the realistic looking flames and I can't stop looking outside and watching my lovely light. I love it so much that I ordered another one! The new one arrived today and started working as soon as I turned it on, its fantastic!! I'm thinking of buying a couple more for Christmas presents!!

I left them turned off for a couple of days so they were fully charged, then when it got dark I pressed the button for 3 seconds and they started with no trouble. They look amazingly real, and give out a flickering orange glow around the garden. I am planning to buy a few more next month.

One thing to look out for though, it's not a simple press once for on etc. it's a press and hold for 2-3 seconds for on, thought all were faulty to start with. Still working at 6 a.m. the following morning after a couple of dull days.
