Have received and fitted the replacement tops and they are excellent. Two points though 1. I have removed the screwed in plate at the bottom of the glass tubes on our original lights because the tubes would fill up with water ( the new ones haven't got a plate fitted any longer when they arrive) 2. The fit of the new tops is slightly looser so I used some insulating tape on the li to tighten the fit - noe they are perfect! Very happy with these lights! ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘

0 | 0 I have several Durham lights and they used to attract a white substance on the surface after rain which reduces the ability of the solar panels. I have found that if you polish the tops with car polish it stops this happening and the tops perform perfectly for much longed.

0 | 0 Earlier this year I replaced all the tops on my London lights as the original were getting weather worn, Unfortunately a couple of weeks ago one of the nine stopped working. I checked the batteries which were ok so I contacted The Solar Centre for a replacement which was sent with no problem, so once again 10 out of 10 for The Solar Centre.

0 | 0 These lights are great - they have lasted years and still look as good as new. My previous solar lights from another supplier discoloured and looked horrible after 2 years. Occasionally replacing just the top rather than the whole light fitting is a great idea. I also bought a PIR security light which has been fantastic despite being fitted in a shaded location. Great products, reasonable pricing, easy to order, quick delivery and (on the one occasion I had an issue and had to ring Solarcentre) supplied by a company that still believes in good customer service. I have no hesitation in recommending both the Company and their products.

This is my third purchase on my replacement panels(3 in total) which is really good considering they are on some nights for 8-10 hours. 0 | 0 The new XT tops are a great improvement on the older types. Much brighter and longer lasting. The only down side is they are only available in cool white. I hope Warm White XT tops will be available soon.

2 | 0 The replacement top was working within 48 hours. Just a pity that these tops don't last a little longer. I seem to replace them annually. I have tried replacing just the batteries but they still don't work. I have replaced everyone of my London lights at least once now. The good thing is that when they are working they are excellent, staying on all night even in the depths of winter.

They last much longer than the usual lights sold in garden centres, though I have had to replace some of the early lights and the replacements have been improved. I'm pleased to continue using these lights. SolarCentre have always given me good service.

0 | 0 Saw an add a couple of years ago and eventually bought over a dozen large London Solar Post lamps for my garden and house frontage. They illuminate the steps, paths and a balcony edge year round. I wouldn't consider any other solar light as the London units are well designed and built. I had a couple of solar tops fail but replaced them within days at a very reasonable price. From this you will see I am a fan and recommend Solar Centres products.

0 | 0 I have started to replace the tops to the 7 wall lights I own after the old ones started to fail. Replacing the batteries didn't help and I noticed the chips were looking burnt out. The new design tops look much better made and the light output is vastly superior even on Winter Setting mode. Time will tell how long they last. Slightly disappointed that the "Warm White" colour is not so warm. I wonder if I had a cool White by mistake. This is a minor quibble and I am very happy with the new designed product.

1 | 0 I've had these fitted on London solar lights and gone through at least 3 clearly different incarnations. Through every model these have been some of the brightest longest lasting solar lights I have ever owned and would recommend them to anyone. I bought 2 replacement tops to replace my oldest lights and unfortunately both the tops failed. I contacted Solar Centre and within 4 hrs got a reply and notification that two replacement tops where to be sent to me. Normally this faulty stock issue would have knocked my rating to 3 or 4 stars for these exceptional lights, but with such good no quibble service from Luke I will give them the highest marks.. Thank You and I will soon be back for more of these London lights

1 | 0 Good price with the discount of offer and very much cheaper than buying complete lights; and with the strong construction of the larger London Posts it is usually in my experience only the tops that fail. So these were essentially bought for the future. Though I have also found that with the white plastic section under the top removed, they also fit neatly my old Frostfire Posts that have, after a few years of good service, begun to fail. This is IMHO a quality product. The additional features of exceptional brightness and flexibility of switching off or onto one of two 'live' settings (S and P - the latter throwing out less light but for longer) make these light units the best I have found to date.

0 | 0 Had the lights for 2 years and some of the tops were not charging from time to time, so decided to replace them all at one time, as Iwanted to switch to warm white this time. Replacing the tops is so easy and a perfect fit too. They charged really quickly, are bright as can be.

0 | 0 have had the Canterbury lamps now for two years and they look great and give off a nice white light lately they have been a bit hit and miss recharging so decided to change the heads which simply pull off the top of the lamp and the new ones pushed into place simple, new heads look more waterproof than the old ones not that I had any trouble with water getting in but compared with other lamps iv'e had that once they won't recharge you have to replace the full lamp it's great just replacing the charging head.

0 | 0 Bought 12 several years ago and the on/off switch eventually became corroded due condensation. I managed to get a few working but they soon failed. I spoke to Luke Sanders and ordered replacements. They are much brighter and last through the night, also they are obviously of much better quality. The only point that I would make, because several didn't work initially, is that the battery contacts were not making, either because the holder is too tight or the springs at the -ve end were not strong enough. I stretched the springs until contact was made and they were fine. Luke was extremely helpful and I would have no hesitation in recommending him for help or the company. (I was an electronic engineer so I am sure that I was correct.) Thanks for your quick help & response. I would recommend the Solar Center without hesitation. Excellent.

0 | 0 Bought 5 Canterbury lights last year ,worked well throughout the winter keeping them clean & polished to protect from the elements one failed checked batteries etc no fault apparent so when the offer came along ordered 2 as spares the tops that arrived looked a better quality than the originals.

I didn't realise that I could have chosen from white and warm white. The other thing that would have been helpful would have been an instruction leaflet that states how long to leave the lights on charge, I do realise that it depends on the sunlight! Or whether I should put the lights on p or s what do these letters stand for?

0 | 0 One of my original 2 tops started to fail after around 14 months even after replacing the batteries in both tops. I therefore ordered one new replacement. Unfortunately when this arrived it did not work and my second original started to fail also. I informed the Solar Centre and they were very kind in providing a replacement for the new one I had just purchased and because of the inconvenience also sent me a replacement for my 2nd original that had stopped working. Very understanding and good service- thank you.

The first sets of lights I purchased 3 years ago, but a couple of the tops had now got scratched and were no longer working. The lights look great around my caravan decking and give out lots of light, and all for free. Great value and service, they were dispatched the next day.

0 | 0 I purchased 3 replacement tops for the Canterbury Lights I bought a couple of years back. The new tops have been re-engineered and now seem to include less wiring and have a plastic cover over the electronics. The old ones had gone rusty inside over time and the batteries were coming to the end of their life. Also I had to fix the old ones at some time as a wire had come lose. The duel setting on the new ones for summer and Winter is a good added feature. All good so far but I guess time will tell.

0 | 0 I bought 2 new tops as one of the ones I bought before developed an intermittent fault. It now seems to be working fine so these will do as spares. I have 7 lights on a fence and they generally perform well on the Winter power saving mode. Only on really wet days do they not hold their charge and considering this is the worst time of year, (January), I don't think this is bad going. Well worth the money if you want a little warm glow in the garden in these dullest of Winter days!!!!

Unfortunately the plastic shrouds had become extremely brittle over the three years we have used them and all three shattered as I unscrewed them to clean them. Hopefully they will be able to find replacements so I can fit the new light units.

0 | 0 Great for me, works well and better than the older tops but not sure if I can recharge the batteries on this top as I used to with the older ones. I found that during the winter months a booster charge with an indoor charger would keep my lights going all night even during December (this was on the full brightness setting) These new tops have batteries that seemed to be sealed in a water proof box, good for life expectancy but not sure if I can get to them for a booster recharge? Still recommended them for what you pay.

0 | 0 Very pleased with the quality of the replacement light top and speed of delivery. It is an improvement on the original as the batteries are now covered and not as susceptible to damp. I also like the fact that the top is slightly domed so water can't sit there as it used to.

1 | 0 I purchased six London xt solar lights 2 years ago and have been very happy with their performance. However this year only three were working, I did try leaving the switch in the off position for a few days to allow the batteries to recharge unfortunately this did not help. I therefore bought three new tops and I am quite happy withh them, they seem as if they are improved from the originals and appear to be more weatherproof. Because the rest of the lights are such good quality I do not mind having to replace the tops every couple of years - obviously it would be nice if they lasted longer though.

3 | 0 2x replacement tops for the Canterbury wall light. First impression was good however one of the tops had a problem with it's switch. I called the company and they sent out a replacement without any quibble. I used to recharge the older type during the winter months as you could get to the batteries but not sure I can do this with the newer version. I have a feeling they will last longer than the originals as a lot of weather proofing thought has gone into the new design, time will tell. At the price I am happy to buy new tops ever couple of years or so. Yes I recommend this new design and the customer service is great.

Some months ago I purchased five Canterbury Solar Lights and only two of them have ever worked. When I discovered the XT Power Saving top I decided to purchase two of them to try. Unfortunately only one of them is working. I have to say that the one that does work gives a far superior light to the original model that came with with the lights and would have replaced the old ones had they both worked.

Though only the 3 original tops died, after trying the new ones, I have upgraded all them as the units are much neater and brighter. The stainless steel fittings are still as good as when I bought them.

I think one of the tops got frozen during a cold snap and stopped working properly. this is a fitting with no mains wiring, I have found a days charge lasts from dusk till about 12pm. With two of these you can see down a dark side alleyway at night without mains usage. Safe and inexpensive to run.

1 | 0 Just completed the mandatory two yearly replacement of the light top. The new design does look more robust than the previous model, but there is still some circuitry not enclosed in the new covered interior, so may still be vulnerable to the elements; only time will tell. Charged up well but feel that the lower setting is a bit too low, so set it to high which is good. Giving it four stars because it's too soon to say how long it will last.

0 | 0 Just bought a replacement XT PS Top. For me, this is the third generation of top for my wall lights and the design has clearly evolved with the aim of improving service life. The lens now overlaps the body edge and a shield protects the circuit board and batteries, both helping to keep out moisture. Looks a better product than the previous generation and that was excellent. My only criticism; did I miss something or did you mean to let me guess or trial what P and S meant on the switch?

Thanks for your review Bob. The P stands for powersaving and the S stands for Standard. In Powersaving mode you'll get around double the runtime for a small drop in brightness. Hope that helps.

1 | 0 The Canterbury lights are good looking and work well (just installed them at the end of February), but I have found the solar cells on the old version only last for about 2 years before failing. These tops are described as improved, and have two settings (a low and a high setting) - however, the low is a bit dim, so have set to high. The new model looks slightly different than the old one, with a rounded edge, which may solve the design problem of the old ones which had a slight rim around the edge, which caused water to collect on the top- which probably did not help the life of the product. Hopefully new versions will have a longer life than the old ones.

I recently bought 3 more tops to replace the old ones and one of those has stopped working ~Getting fed up and reconsidering persevering with these lights!

0 | 0 Had the orginal Canterbury lights, but had to replace one of the solar panels. Was sent the the new one which has the winter and summer switch unlike my old one. During the winter which I have set the light to I find it stays on all night unlike my old panel. Have ordered another two to replace the originals. Good that you can just order the solar panel instead of having to replace the whole light.

0 | 0 I wish I had known about these improved tops when I purchased 4 new tops a couple of months back. I recently bought two of these XT tops and they are a complete upgrade to the 'old' model. The top is now completely sealed from the elements and the covered battery case gives proper protection from the elements. This is how they should have been all along but I guess if you learn as you go along and then put what you learn into practise then you are to be congratulated. This is now a first class product.
